Delete your account

You can request deletion of your DealRoom account and personal data at any time, directly inside the app. This page explains the steps, what is removed, what has to be kept and how long it takes.

How to request deletion in the app

  1. 1Open the DealRoom app and sign inOpen DealRoom on your phone and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. 2Tap the My Account iconOn your workspace screen, tap the My Account icon — the person image in the top right.
  3. 3Tap Privacy and account dataChoose Privacy and account data, the section covering data export and account deletion.
  4. 4Scroll to Delete your accountScroll down to the Delete your account panel.
  5. 5Tick the confirmation boxTick the box confirming you understand that required transaction records may be retained and that all active sessions will be revoked.
  6. 6Give a reason (optional)Add anything relevant to your request. This is optional and does not affect whether the request is actioned.
  7. 7Tap Request account deletionTap Request account deletion. Your request is logged immediately and your sessions are revoked.

If you cannot get into the app

Email privacy@thedealroomapp.com from the address registered to your account and ask us to delete it. We will verify that the request comes from the account holder before acting on it, and we may need to ask you a small number of questions to do that.

What is deleted

  • Your account and sign-in credentials.
  • Your profile details, including your name, email address and telephone number.
  • Your device and session records — all active sessions are revoked immediately.
  • Any personal data held about you that is not required as part of a transaction record.
  • Your enquiry records from this website, where you ask us to remove those as well.

Deletion is completed within 30 days of the request. Once it is done it cannot be reversed, and the account cannot be recovered.

What is retained, and why

A DealRoom room is a shared record between several parties, so a single participant cannot erase evidence the others rely on. The following is retained after your account is deleted:

  • Messages, documents, signed agreements, required actions and room history that form the transaction record of a room you took part in. Your entries remain attributed to the alias the room administrator gave you, not to your personal contact details.
  • Signature records and agreement evidence, which the counterparties and the room administrator are entitled to keep.

This material is kept for as long as the room's administrator keeps the room open. Where a room is closed and unused, it is deleted after six years, which is the standard record-keeping period in the United Kingdom. Where a legal hold, court order or regulatory obligation applies, that takes precedence and the material is kept until the hold ends.

Exporting your data first

The same Privacy and account data screen offers a data export. If you want a copy of your information, request the export and wait until you have received it before requesting deletion.
